Beth (2162) Evaluation Question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

EVALUATION QUESTION 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The camera and the tripod were very simple to use once we had been told how to use them. These were the only two pieces of equipment we used for the filming as they were the most straightforward to use and we didn’t need to use any other bits of equipment. The only con with the tripod and camera is that sometimes the camera isn’t lose enough on the tripod to be able to move it and get a steady panning shot. We also used the mac with which had all the software that we needed to make our opening sequence, such as final cut express. This is a programme that allows you to import all of your video clips, pictures and sounds and put them onto a timeline and allows you to edit it and add different effects. The good thing with final cut express is that it is quite easy to work when you know how to use it. The only con with final cut express is that it is only saved on that specific computer so if you wanted to use another computer on the same account your final cut express documents would not be on there.

We used blogger to put our coursework onto so our teachers could view our work and see if we are up to date or not. We typed most of our work up on blogger and imported some of it on there. For example, our preliminary task we had to import as it was a video. We uploaded every piece of work we did onto blogger, almost like a portfolio. The only con with blogger is that sometimes our videos were not able to play once we had uploaded them which meant we had to find another method of putting them on the blog.

We didn’t use slideshare during the constructing of our product, however we could have used it to put PowerPoint slides onto in order to be able to put it on the blog. This would also be good as it will be a more exciting way of presenting the PowerPoint.

We had a specific member of our group who focused on this but we all checked it was good enough before we used it. She used a few pre-made sounds to create the background music for our opening sequence. The good thing about garage band is that you don’t need to start from scratch when making the music as there are lots of short tracks that have been pre-made. The only con with garage band is that you tend to find another group has used a similar track to yours or even the same one.
